I got pregnant with a friend. He wasn’t my boyfriend, nor a good person honestly. I knew I didn’t want him to be the father of my child. I am also a freshman in college so I am just not ready! It came to me as the biggest surprise ever. I handled it well and knew right away I was going to go through with an abortion. Me and my friends have always said throughout high school “if I ever get pregnant I’m having an abortion”. Having a few friends against it doesn’t bother me at all. My body my choice! Anyways, I went to the first visit which was $150. I had to sit in a waiting room for 3 hours and you’re not allowed to bring your phone. I finally gave blood, was counseled, and got an ultrasound. telling me I was 10wks and 1 day. They offered me the pill but I have read and heard the pill is the worst pain for a long time, although it’s worth it I didn’t want to go through that. i I chose the surgical procedure thinking it wouldn’t hurt at all. The procedure cost about $900 including all the expenses. Luckily i got it all donated from abortion funds, I highly recommend donating/ calling them! I know after all their help I am going to make it a priority to donate. I read stories and stories about people’s experiences, so I wanted to tell mine.

The night before I couldn’t go to sleep, I went to sleep at 4am and had to be up for 6am. I had to arrive at the clinic for 8am, but it was kind of far. I arrived to many protesters. but that doesn’t bother me because my body my choice. I was waiting in a wait room with many women my age, and that’s so comforting. Just knowing all these women are right there with me makes me feel a lot better. After waiting in the waiting room for an hour we got called back one by one. We were sat in a room with law and order SVU playing. Then one at a time we were called to get our vitals checked and take 800mg ibuprofen. After you went back and watched SVU. I waited about an hour or two before getting called again, I got a shot with nausea and pain medication, then was told to go pee. I started feeling dizzy because of the pain medicine but that’s normal.

I waited about 10-15 minutes and then it was my turn. I waited in the room for about 5 minutes and changed into a plastic gown before my doctor came in. She came in and immediately got to work. She was apologizing the whole time for the pain she put me in, but she was just doing her job. From start to finish it was very painful and some of the most pain I’ve ever been in. but you have to realize it only last 5 minutes no longer. I was so uncomfortable and in so much pain. about 2-3 minutes in she gave me the shot in my cervix and said this can make your heart race. My heart started pumping so fast, my mouth was absolutely dry. The nurse held my hand and I couldn’t help but squeeze her so tight. It was so painful. Afterwards I was dizzy and cramping. It only lasted for about 10 minutes. I went through pain for 15 minutes, but it was sure as hell worth it. I wouldn’t ever want to do that again, but I do not regret it at all. Just know you are not alone! Whatever decision you make is the right one. Know you are loved, and this happens for a reason.
