I had a copper IUD. According to the poster on the wall at Planned Parenthood, it’s is a birth control method that is 99% effective. I was the 1%.
The nurse at Planned Parenthood was so kind. She said “that’s not supposed to happen”. I was met with such kindness and compassion. Kindness and Compassion that I know the world wouldn’t give me for the same situation.
I had my abortion and removed the copper IUD, now I have a mistrust for birth control. Me and my partner knew it wasn’t the right time for a child even if it was something we both might want to do in the future. This is why I made a choice to get the painful IUD. I put my body through hell to prevent pregnancy and it still happened.
