I had an abortion when I was 22 years old.
I lived three thousand miles away from family, and was in a relationship with an abusive man. I became pregnant and he flat-out told me he would not be participating in raising a child. I was extremely poor and had no support or resources.
Planned Parenthood saved the day. They were incredibly kind and supportive. The practitioner who performed my abortion held my hand and told me, “You’ll be able to have children some day when and if you want to.” I never forgot her kindness.
I escaped that abusive relationship and now I have two beautiful kids and a loving husband. My beautiful family wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t had an abortion. I am so grateful. I’ll always stand up for the right to choose.
