On August 20th, 2025, I went in for what I thought would be a routine 20-week anatomy scan. I was excited to see my baby girl and to learn more about her. But that day changed my life forever.

The doctors sat me down and explained that my baby had many severe anomalies. Her stomach was open, and her liver and other organs were growing outside of her body. They also found that she had scoliosis, her right leg hadn’t fully developed, and she would likely face serious breathing problems after birth. They told me that even if she survived delivery, she would face a lifetime of surgeries, pain, and medical complications — with no guarantee of a healthy or comfortable life.

I never imagined I would have to make the choice to end a pregnancy. I love children deeply, and I wanted nothing more than to bring my baby girl into the world. But I also didn’t want her to suffer. After many tears, prayers, and discussions with my doctors, I chose a surgical abortion. It was the hardest, most heartbreaking decision of my life — but I made it out of love for her.

I share my story so others understand that abortions aren’t always about not wanting a child. Sometimes, they’re about sparing a child from pain and suffering, and about making the most compassionate choice you can when faced with impossible circumstances.
