I was young and working. I made $3.50 an hour back then. Abortion in NYC had not yet become legal. I was pregnant. I asked around and someone in my workplace knew someone who knew someone. The first Doctor I met with on Staten Island, he fondled my breasts and he would suggest that I travel to Puerto Rico for said abortion.

I finally found a well known underground doctor. We met in a motel, maybe Red Lion?, where he performed my first abortion. It went well and I went out dancing later that night. It cost $500 cash. Crazy huh?

My next two abortions were by then, legal.

My reasons for ending the pregnancies were mine…..my body, my choices.
