I’m proud of myself for taking the steps I needed to do something that I wanted. I wouldn’t change a thing about my abortion.
Talking about sex was not a thing my family had with me, especially birth control or abstinence. I was 16 and became pregnant. I knew I couldn’t have a baby. I was a baby. My dad just lost his job during the recession. My mom died less than a year before. My boyfriend was fully supportive of my decision and helped me along the way which I will be forever grateful for.
In my state, I would have to have parent’s permission to go through with an abortion since I was a minor, unless you went in front of a judge and explain why this needed to happen/mature enough to understand the consequences. I knew I could plead my case to the judge, and I did just that.
