I remember sitting at my desk at work and my breasts were extremely tender, which had never happened to me before. My period hadn’t been regular in the last year after experiencing a critical bicycle accident that led to a three-month recovery. A friend went with me to the pharmacy to get a pregnancy test that I took in the office bathroom. It was positive.

I was 26 and making less than $30K/year, living paycheck to paycheck. My boyfriend went with me to Planned Parenthood, where I found out I wasn’t very far along and could get a medical abortion. For me, it was the right choice. I wasn’t ready to have a baby.

In the past 10 years, I grew my career into something that can support my family. My boyfriend and I are now married, going on six years, and have a toddler. If it weren’t for the right to choose, I wouldn’t be the mother I am today.
