When I suspected I was pregnant I went to the doctor whose name I had heard around school and told him flat out “I’m pregnant and I don’t want a baby.” He sent me to planned parenthood. I knew that going home and telling my parents was just not an option. Two days later I had the abortion. I’ve had moments when I wondered “what if” but I have never regretted my decision. I have three wonderful grown children now who I love dearly . Abortion had only been legal a few years at the time. If I had been unable to obtain one I probably would have tried to find an illegal provider or run away from home.
