I’ve had two abortions both under very different circumstances. And I think my story is a great example of MY BODY MY CHOICE.
I was 19 and just out of a physically and mentally abusive relationship. After a year of being tortured by this person I found out I was pregnant. I didn’t have a job and I come from an extremely conservative household so I was terrified I wouldn’t be able to afford the procedure. I finally reached out to my mom and after some convincing she was willing to fund my abortion. All I felt was relief. That chapter was finally over.
Fast forward to current day I am 23 and in a long term loving and supportive relationship. Last month I missed my period by two days and immediately knew I was pregnant and not keeping it. Not because I do not have support but because I did not want a baby. I live in Texas so I was under a time crunch. The first clinic I called got me in the same day for my initial appointment and it turns out it was completely funded by a pro choice organization. I knew I was making the right decision and I haven’t looked back since.
