My fiance looked at me in horror and admitted that “the condom slipped”.  Yes, we were due to marry in about five months. The problem was the car accident I’d been in just a few months before. I was 21, on medications that every doctor told me would cause miscarriage or death soon after birth for the horribly deformed baby that might develop. Still I agonized and called rabbis for advice. The only one I couldn’t talk to was my mother. She’d never support an abortion. But I decided what was right for me and my potential baby. I only regret that my pro-life mother read my diary, and attacked me emotionally, verbally; and damaged our relationship severely.
