I started to feel strange… I never tracked my period so I didn’t know I was late, but I started to get sick at work (I work with food) and I just had a feeling I was pregnant. I took a test and I was. I was already planning on taking birth control, so I went to the doctor to get it (so I could get a real test). He verified my bad news. Young and dumb my favorite form of contraception was the pull out method. Obviously I know that wasn’t the wisest choice. I was just barely 18, living on my own in an apartment away from an unstable family, and failing out of college because of several mental illnesses so I knew what I had to do. It is still the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and it haunts me because it was a healthy pregnancy and my family has an insane history of miscarriages. The thing that made me the most confident was when I was talking to my roommate about it. She had always been very anti-abortion, but she told me I made her realize that it was what some people have to do.
