Birthday present

My long term, long distance boyfriend had gotten me pregnant. We both had decided at the beginning of our relationship that we did not want to have children. As soon as I realized I felt instantly disgusted, the last thing in the world I wanted. Luckily I lived in a state that had a local planned parenthood, so I would easily be able to take care of my pregnancy. I was instantly so relieved to know that my future was in my own hands. Abortion day was actually on my birthday, the first appointment I could get. At first I thought it was kinda morbid but years later, (now that I have now moved to a state where abortions are not even legal!) I see that having those resources available to me as well as being able to make a choice about my own body was the best gift I could ever get. It is so important for people to be able to make decisions about THEIR OWN BODIES. I hope someday I will be able to make that kind of decision in my new state but I know it will be a long time. Hopefully we can continue and progress in this country to have these resources readily available to all in need.
