I became pregnant when my birth control pills got lost in the mail and were delayed in getting to me. As a nonbinary person, being pregnant was extremely traumatic physically and emotionally. I was in so much pain the entire time I was pregnant, and it was probably the longest 8 weeks of my life.

I was unemployed at the time, but I was fortunate enough to have enough savings to be able to afford a medical abortion at Planned Parenthood. Once I cleared the protesters and made it safely inside the office, I started sobbing because I knew I had finally made it and the pain would be over. All the staff members were so kind and understanding, and I will always be so grateful for their support. Having an abortion was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I don’t know what I would’ve done if it was not an option.
