In December of 2022, I got pregnant and chose to get an abortion in January. In September of 2023, I got pregnant again and chose to get an abortion in October.
I have never felt more ashamed or alone in my life and my entire year has been filled with grief and guilt. I was worried people would think I am reckless, irresponsible, and selfish. I am only 19. No one ever tells you how much heartbreak an abortion brings, even if you know wholeheartedly you aren’t ready for a child. That’s why destigmatization is so important.
