Although abortion has been a common, legal medical procedure in the US for 43 years, access to safe and legal abortion has become virtually nonexistent for millions of citizens as a result of insidious anti-choice legislation.

On June 27th, the Supreme Court ruled in the most important abortion rights case in a generation, striking down abortion restrictions in Texas that had closed dozens of clinics. That same day, Seattle-based activist group #ShoutYourAbortion launched a nationwide series of projection installations designed to elevate the visibility of people who have chosen abortion.

We cannot demand justice for an invisible population. Those who choose abortion are consistently silenced, shamed, and demonized. And our opposition can only get away with legislating this issue in a way that is fundamentally out of touch with the values and experiences of the American people if those who choose abortion remain invisible.

Help us spread this installation! The portrait reel, which can be downloaded and streamed, is available at ShoutYourAbortion.com along with a set of posters. If you have access to a bar, venue, gallery or other venue that has either a projector or an internet enabled monitor, you can help us proliferate this beautiful and empowering work.

The era of compulsory silence is ending. Abortion is normal. Our stories are ours to tell. This is not a debate. #ShoutYourAbortion.
