Abortion access was never guaranteed by the courts, and thanks to abortion pills and support networks like abortion funds, it cannot be broadly eliminated by legal decisions either. We CAN sustain functional systems of access post Roe, but only if enough people start to actively contribute to abortion access in their own communities. Access cannot be facilitated by activists alone, it’s gonna have to be a collective project. Aiding and abetting abortion—in the form of funding abortions, sharing information about pills, and saving independent clinics—is a community responsibility, a moral imperative, and a project which cannot be left to activists alone.
