There is no right way or wrong way to feel about an abortion despite what we are told, my two made me feel completely different
I am 3 days day post medical abortion. I have had an abortion before this 5 years ago when I was very young, but I am still young and not prepared for a baby, not yet. I am here to say that as terrifying as most forums are online about this subject please don’t read the horror stories. I trolled the internet for weeks before my first clinic appointment and scared myself stupid. I promised I would come and share my story afterwards for people in my position, for comfort and reassurance. The advice I would give you is if you are at home it’s best to have someone to support you, hold your hand, talk to you for distraction etc. Take pain meds, 500mg ibuprofen worked wonders and codeine/paracetamol tabs. Have a hot water bottle during the full process. And remember this won’t last forever, it is uncomfortable but by the next day, cramps will ease, bleeding will ease, And you’ll be content.
I am aware that everyone reacts in different ways to this type of abortion, everyone’s emotions are different and that’s okay. There is no right way or wrong way to feel about an abortion despite what we are told, my two made me feel completely different each time. But with the pandemic going on and abortion at home being a more common treatment in the U.K. and the US I wanted to give people the chance to see it’s not as scary as it sounds.
And to say thank you to the few but most important stories I read on this page that told me that when I needed it most.
