I had two daughters and was in a horribly emotionally abusive marriage in the early 80s.  I had a tubal ligation and was planning to leave the marriage when I came up pregnant (not having sex was not an option).  I went to Planned Parenthood and they broke the news to my doc who was cranky about it, but redid the ligation and also terminated the pregnancy.  I had to get my husband’s permission for each procedure.

It all worked out in the end and I got the divorce, got a career and raised my girls. I have also chose to remain partner free.
